A Norwich based Ensemble, supporting fund raising events and providing playing opportunities in and around the Norwich area.
In 2005 the Sillars Wind Band came into being, made up mainly of players who were
not members of the Sillars Light Orchestra but who were seeking playing opportunities.
In offering this facility (as part of the Orchestra’s aim to promote music making) the
Band accepted a role to perform at any concert booking that could not be fulfilled by
the Orchestra - on average this amounts to about four concerts a year.
Within this framework, the Wind Band is allowed to operate completely independently
of the Orchestra and free to plan and organise its own programme of events under the musical direction of a separate conductor. The Sillars Wind Band also sets its own repertoire and rehearsal schedule.
Held fortnightly on a Tuesday (during school term) commencing at 7.30 p.m.
The rehearsal address is:
United Reformed Church,
Ipswich Road,
Norwich,
Norfolk.
