On previous holidays I would listen to my ipod in hotel room but my wife had no musical entertainment and kept talking to me which meant removing ear phones each time. Gear4 means we can now both listen to entertainment in hotel room while getting ready to go out etc. Unit is very small and light for fitting in luggage and protected with a soft sleeve / jacket and it comes with UK and continental plugs. Don't expect Bose standard sound quality but it is more than adequate to fill a standard size hotel room. Downsides - remote control buttons took a bit of remembering what each one does in respect of control of the ipod but that's probably me, also I have now lost control of what music is played but wife's choice is not bad. Some reviewers have mentioned interference pick up but I experienced none. Summary - for the price, great value and does exactly what I bought it for.

This is a cracking little dock/speaker but anyone buying should be aware of the problem I experienced.
As I do a lot of travelling I wanted a small lightweight dock/speaker that would work with my iphone to play music in hotel rooms and I also could use as a music alarm clock. Unfortunately, however, the new gear4 feature of auto power save means that unless the dock is playing music it will automatically switch into power standby mode and does not re-activate unless you press a button. Consequently the iphone alarm switches on but the dock/speaker doesn't! Not much use at all then if you want to use it in this way.
As a consequence of the above I've given this 2 stars but the reality is that if I was only going to use the device to play music then I probably would have scored it 5 stars. The design is great and the sound more than acceptable for such a small portable dock/speaker.
Another very slight negative however is the neoprene case which is too tight and makes storing for transport a bit of a pain.
Contacted gear4 tech support to see if there is any way the auto power off could be deactivated but unfortunately it can't. Have suggested it's something they think about for future versions. Top marks though for speed of response from their tech support

The v2 is an aesthetic (marked) and acoustic (slight) improvement on the v1. The v2 design fits comfortably in a showroom for Apple fanboy accessories. It's alot nicer than the v1 that sits in my office. The sound is impressive for the size. It's perfect for a hotel room or bedroom. I use mine on holidays. I would not recommend for a kitchen (loud background), large living room or pool-side (unless you're at the lounger). It goes without saying, but it's a well rounded and worthwhile boost on the internal speaker. As between the Size 0 and the standard sized Streetparty 4, for holiday hotel rooms, the Size 0 should win out.

I received this product a couple of weeks ago. I have to say that the touch screen idea is very nice and worked very well. The sound was also very good. Then after about 4 days the headphone socket stopped working. I could hear it externally but that was not always convenient. Then the on/off button at the top came off. Generally it displayed a good sound and good visuals and the touch screen was neat but durability is not its strong point.

Unfortunately had to return the first one as the touch screen was defective, but this was mitigated by the great service and a replacement was sent immediately. First impressions are that it is a great little device, smaller and lighter than a packet of cigaretes. The ability to put extra storage in, by use of a mini-SD card is great, especially if you are to away from home for a long time. Okay 4 Gb memory basic should be enough for most unless you want to use it solely for videos. I haven't used the device for a video yet, but from the sample given it is quite clear. With pictures it does not like too large a format so to display them you need to reduce the size/compression, however the display is nice and clear.Only niggle I have at present is the built in game, I cannot see or work out how to open this Tetris like game; I have no idea if you can load alternatives, but if you are into mini-games then this device is not really suitable.
The touhscreen screen remind me of the current advertisements for a certain Apple device, but how similar they are I have no idea, but the touch screen menu looks good and is easy to use.
Connection via the USB cable for uploading or downloading files is easy, the device is even recognised instantly by Microsoft Vista without needing additional drivers.
Battery life, well I have used this only for a few hours as yet but the built in battery display, on the touch screen, still shows a full charge.
The unit comes with ear plug type speakers, in white, which I haven't use, prefering light weight headphones, and as such I have found the clarity to be most acceptable and no need to turn the volume any way near half way up. The option of using the built in speaker is very handy at times and for its size it gives reasonable sound but remember if you want to use it for a party etc you need a seperate powered speaker unit.
I haven't really got to terms with the built in radio, but it is very directional and seems to need to be tuned in precisely.
The screen size is larger than most other devoted MP3 screens on the market unless you go for a devoted movie device (generally 4 to 8 inches. It is very acceptable for one person to use about the normal distance as per reading a book, but not really acceptable for use by two or more people nor for all the kids in back of the car.
One word of caution is that when you first get the unit home, there is a 'plastic' protective membrane to be removed and it is between the screen and the outer housing and looks as if it does not come off, it does; trouble is you can leave small bits of polythene within the screen surround.
Price wise it seems expensive until you remember that it has a large capacity of storage, 4 Gb, AND that it can take a mini SD card which can boost it up to 8 Gb

Bought a Jtek 4.3 player a few months ago and its had some hammer and comes up trumps. Great for viewing videos on the move or just as a mini cinema (bigger screen than all the ipods on sale at the moment). And the sound is crystal clear, I guess helped by the Microsoft Play FX techy stuff inside it. The package comes with a really nice pair of quality in ear earphones all factory sealed with a handy car charger as well.. Came in a couple of days with 1st class recorded post.. Highly recommended. A +

i love my zen so much, when i was about to buy it i was scared by all the negative comments that were posted up here, but they must just be bad experiences because this is the most easy to use mp3 ive ever had, with much better sound quality than ipods!! go for it, seriously good investment!! xx

I've owned this little gem for about 6 months now and I am very impressed. Its small but not so small you feel you might lose it under a book of stamps, light and well featured and easy to use. Once the drivers are installed you can drag and drop albums using file explorer in windows. No messing around having to convert file formats or using propriety software (which is invariably not very good).

To be fair I'm not too bothered about a coloured screen - i just need something that shows the artist, album and track name and the Zen screen fits the bill. Much more important to me is sound quality and I really can't see where the previous reviewer is coming from. Even with the supplied headphones the quality is great (and I'm used to listening to music on £5k + worth of hi-fi). Obviously its format and encoding quality dependent but the bass is well defined and the music hangs together well.

Perhaps though the biggest plus point for me is the fact that it comes as close to any player I've listened to to providing gapless playback on mixed CD's. I listen to a lot of electronica and have been put off so many players by the annoying half second click as it jumps to the next track. If you're really concetrating you can hear it on this player but most of the time the tracks blend without you noticing.

I also use it to record my own DJ sets and the line in recording is very good. The only slight snag is the line in jack on the player itself is 2.5mm and whilst it comes with a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack its hard to source a 2.5mm to phono lead so an adaptors is required. No biggy but something to be aware of.

Battery life is a little short - I've not got the 9 hours stated out of it - near 4-5 but it charges when docked to the PC and its more than enough to get me through the day.

All in all, very impressed. Does everything I want and the right price.

This MP3 player not only looks good, but sounds and peforms equally well.

At 70 quid i got more wows than i would get with any ipod. It has menus playlists album art and many useful extras which i use very often. it is so tiny that it can fit in any pocket.

The batterylife is very good, and the scratch resisitant finish works very well. The Reviews below are wrong this player is the best ive had (10 overall) my whole family uses creative now.
So buy yours now. This really is a very good player!
